Mwadime Chengo – Barber Shop Owner at Vok area.

Mwadime Chengo, a barber in his 20s narrates his success story having joined the investment groups, commonly known as ‘Chamas’.

To Chengo, being part of the merry-go round groups has transformed his life and instilled a saving habit,
to which as he says, was a tough hurdle he was battling with. Chengo says initially, he would work
tirelessly but at the end of the day, there was no money left due to rigorous spending. This made it
difficult for him as he could not see the benefits of the barber shop he was operating.

He then opted to joining VOK youth empowerment group which totally transformed his life and now he is able to save and account for his expenses well.

“After joining VOK youth group, life became better, I am able to pay my rent, cater for my needs without any problem,” he states.

Currently his group is working to see to it that the group is fully integrated into a cooperative so as to make its operations legit and easier for the members.

He is also a new member of Lengo Sacco and is thrilled with the quick services the sacco offers to its members.
