The SACCO plans to strengthen its financial position, improve loan portfolio quality and expand access to services through technology and branch expansion.
Imarika DT SACCO is targeting 14 per cent growth in 2027, with increased savings mobilisation, prudent lending and digital innovation forming key priorities in its next phase of expansion.
Speaking during the SACCO’s Special Delegates Meeting held on October 24, 2026, Kilifi County CECM for Trade, Tourism, Culture and Heritage, and Cooperative Development, Hon. John Raymond Ngala, challenged the institution to pursue its growth ambitions while safeguarding financial sustainability.
“The projected growth target of 14% is ambitious and will require effective implementation, prudent resource management, sound risk management and continuous monitoring,” he said.
Ngala noted that Imarika ranked 17th nationally in total assets among 179 large-tier deposit-taking SACCOs regulated by SASRA, with assets of KSh16.1 billion, according to the 2025 SACCO Supervision Annual Report.
He, however, urged the SACCO to strengthen savings mobilisation, citing projected year-end savings of KSh11.4 billion against lending of KSh14.8 billion. He also raised concern over the institution’s Portfolio at Risk (PAR), which is above the recommended threshold, calling for stronger credit appraisal, loan monitoring and recovery measures.
Technology will also feature prominently in the SACCO’s 2027 agenda. Plans include upgrading its electronic communication system by mid-2027 to improve operational efficiency, security and member experience.
Chairman John Ziro said, “The upgraded system will modernize our operations by bringing in the much needed efficiency, stability, security and user friendly that should see better delivery of services to our esteemed members.”
The SACCO also plans to upgrade its Mpeketoni site office into a fully fledged branch to serve its growing membership and extend services across Lamu County.
Meanwhile, Imarika is developing its 2027–2031 Strategic Plan to guide future expansion. Its 2026 projections include 15 per cent turnover growth, 13.5 per cent growth in loans and advances, and a 13 per cent increase in consolidated returns to members.
The Supervisory Committee commended members and the Board for the positive performance recorded across most financial portfolios, as the SACCO prepares for another phase of growth.
