KCB and Visa Roll Out Business Credit Card to Ease SME Cashflow Pressures

Officials at the launch.

KCB Bank Kenya has partnered with Visa to introduce a new Business Credit Card tailored to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with flexible financing and smarter expense management. The new solution provides businesses with access to a revolving line of credit, including up to 45 days of interest-free financing. The facility is designed to give entrepreneurs breathing room as they manage operational costs, supplier payments, and other day-to-day expenses.

In addition to improved access to working capital, the card offers practical financial management tools. Customers can opt for either a Kenya Shillings (KES) or US Dollar (USD) card, depending on their transaction needs. The product also allows for the issuance of employee cards and provides monthly reconciliation statements to enhance accountability and streamline record-keeping.

Cardholders will gain access to exclusive commercial offers from Visa, enabling them to benefit from discounts and other savings opportunities as they digitize and expand their operations. Speaking at the launch, Angela Mwirigi, Director of Digital Financial Services at KCB Bank Kenya, noted that while SMEs are central to Kenya’s economy, many continue to struggle with limited access to affordable and flexible financing.

She observed that entrepreneurs often face tight cashflow cycles, limited visibility on business spending, challenges separating personal and company expenses, and cumbersome reconciliation processes. The new credit card solution, she said, is intended to address these gaps by equipping businesses with structured financing and better expense controls.

The initiative aligns with KCB’s broader digital transformation agenda, which focuses on delivering modern payment solutions that meet the evolving needs of businesses. Through the partnership with Visa, the bank aims to empower SMEs with tools that enhance efficiency, strengthen financial discipline, and support sustainable growth in a competitive business environment.
